MeowHaus Coon’s FAQs

 1. Adoption & Pricing

  • Our kittens start at $2,300. Final pricing often depends on factors such as gender, color, and specific traits like polydactyly (extra toes). We ask that you be prepared for this financial commitment before inquiring. This pricing reflects the immense dedication and resources required to ethically raise healthy, well-socialized Maine Coons, including:

    • Quality DNA Tested lines: to ensure we are passing on healthy genes.

    • Premium Nutrition: Our cats and kittens are raised on a high-quality diet to support their rapid growth and bone development.

    • 24/7 Socialization: Raising confident kittens is a full-time job. We spend countless hours handling, playing with, and socializing kittens so they are ready for a home environment.

  • Your kitten comes with:

    • Age-appropriate vaccinations and deworming.

    • A microchip upon purchase

    • A health record form.

    • A sample of the food they are currently eating.

    • 30-day health insurance trial

  • If you wish to guarantee the availability of your kitten a non-refundable deposit of 350 is required to reserve him or her. This amount is deducted from the final purchase price. The remaining balance is due upon picking up your kitten.

  • Our kittens are placed in loving homes as 'pets only.' Spaying or neutering is a mandatory condition of sale and must be completed within one year of purchase. Please be aware that this is a strict contractual obligation, and significant penalties apply for non-compliance.

2. Health & Care

  • Absolutely. All breeding cats come from lines tested of genetic conditions relevant to Maine Coons, including HCM (heart), SMA (spinal), and PK Def (kidney). Our priority is ensuring we are breeding healthy, genetically sound lines.

  • Kittens typically go to their new homes between 12 and 14 weeks of age. This ensures they are fully weaned, litter box trained, socially confident, and have received their necessary veterinary care.

  • Our cats and kittens are mainly fed Life's Abundance. We recommend keeping them on this diet for at least the first month to prevent tummy upset, after which you can slowly transition them to a food of your choice.

3. About the Breed

  • Yes! Maine Coons are known as the "gentle giants" of the cat world. They are typically dog-like, affectionate, and very tolerant, making them excellent companions for families and multi-pet households.

  • While they have long fur, their coat is more silky than wooly, meaning it mats less than other long-haired breeds. However, they still require a good brushing around 3 times a week to keep their coat healthy and reduce shedding.

  • Maine Coons continue to grow until they are 3–5 years old.

    • Males: Typically 15–25 lbs.

    • Females: Typically 10–15 lbs.

    • Note: Health and temperament are always more important to us than size.

4. Logistics

  • We prefer families to pick up their kitten in person, but we understand that isn't always possible. Talk to us about possible options.

  • For the health and safety of our kittens (whose immune systems are still developing) and the privacy of our home, we do not allow casual visits. We are happy to provide video calls and meet strictly on "Go Home Day.”
